Landing Page Setup Guide

Note for this draft: the numbered steps below are accurate to the real process. Screenshots are marked as placeholders — real screenshots of our actual Namecheap account will replace these once we have a live domain registered to photograph (currently blocked on the BC Name Request approval ahead of purchasing our own domain).

If you chose "Bring Your Own Domain"

These steps take about 10-15 minutes. We'll send you the exact values to enter (the specific address our hosting gives your page) in your delivery email — the steps below show where to put them. Instructions shown are for Namecheap, since that's what we recommend if you don't already have a registrar; the same basic idea (add a DNS record, save) applies anywhere else, just in a different-looking menu.

  1. Log into your domain registrar account (namecheap.com if you registered there).

  2. Find your domain in your account and click "Manage" next to it.

  3. Open the "Advanced DNS" tab.

  4. Add a new CNAME record pointing to the address we send you in your delivery email, then save. (If your delivery email specifies an A record instead, the same screen has an "Add New Record" option for that too.)

  5. That's it — changes usually take effect within a few minutes, though they can take a few hours to fully update everywhere. If your page isn't loading yet after a few hours, email us at hello@bookedandvisible.ca and we'll take a look.

If you chose "All-In, Domain Included"

This side is much shorter — there's no DNS to touch, since we've already pointed everything at your finished page before handing the domain to you.

  1. Once your page is confirmed live, check your email for a message from Namecheap about a domain ownership change.

  2. Click the link in that email. If you don't already have a free Namecheap account, it'll prompt you to create one — this takes under a minute (email address and password, nothing else needed).

  3. Confirm you accept the domain. It's now fully and permanently yours — Namecheap will bill you directly for renewal starting the following year (about $12-15/year), not us.
